Accessories: Types of Toys

We all know that there are a ton of sex toys available on the market today.  So many that it would be about impossible to discuss every single one on the market.  So for this article, I will discuss the basic types and the most common subtypes of female toys.  Let’s begin.

Vibrators:

A vibrator is a vibrating device used to stimulate various part of the body.  They come in many shapes, colors, sizes, materials and speeds.  Most that are intended for sexual use are dildo-shaped.  Below you will find the various sub-types of vibrators most common in todays adult market.

• Penetrative:  Penetrative vibrators are mainly used for vaginal penetration.  They normally measure 5-7 inches (12-18cm) in length and 1-2 inches (2-5cm) in width to resemble the average penis.
• Anal:  These vibes are designed for anal stimulation by inserting them into the rectum.  They are used to pleasure both the prostate of men and give women a feeling of fullness.
• G-Spot:  The G-Spot vibrator is curved at one end to assist in stimulating the g-spot of women.  They come in various sizes including small enough to fit on a finger for insertion and use.
• Bullets:  The bullet is probably one of the most versatile and widely used stimulator.  They are most often “bullet” shaped that can be used for direct external and/or internal stimulation.  They can also often be added to or inside of other toys for increased stimulation.
• Wands:  Wands are most often very large and marketed is back massagers.  They are often powered by a wall outlet and power adapter.  Although not marketed as a stimulation toy, they are most commonly used as a clitoral stimulator.
• Rabbit:  The rabbit is probably the newest and most widely recognized vibration toy thanks to the show “Sex and the City”.  This is designed as a regular vibrator but with an insertable shaft that offers one or more function; the most common being internal rotating beads and/or rotation of the shaft itself.  Rabbits also have an attached clitoral stimulator which most often resembles rabbit ears in which one sits on either side of the clitoris and vibrates for stimulation.
• Luxury:  Luxury vibrators are most often a combination of one or more of those listed above; the only difference between them is the use of precious materials that appeal to a more upscale client.

Dildos:

Dildos are non-vibrating devices used for vaginal and anal stimulation.  Most often they are penis shaped and are available in various colors, sizes, materials and designs.

• Double Penetration (Double Ended):  The Double Penetration dildo is a long and usually flexible dildo with two ends that are used for penetration.  They are most often about 18 inches long and come in various widths.  They are used for the penetration of two (2) persons at one time or can be bent for use vaginal and anal penetration for one person (dual or double penetration).
• Horseshoe:  This is a “u” or “horseshoe” shaped dildo that is used specifically for double/dual penetration of a single person.
• Glass:  The glass dildos are the latest trend of sex toys on the market.  They are probably the most sterile and versatile dildo on the market.  Due to the use of medical glass, they resist the transference of STDs and are very durable.  The also can be used cold or heated and with physical shock (since it is a conductor).  The major selling point however is the beauty and design of the glass dildo.  Most of them have beautiful colorations, stimulating textures and are styled with flowers, etc. making them appear more as a work of art than a standard sex toy.

Anal:

• Butt Plugs:  Dildos that are shorter and designed for anal insertion.  They are usually designed with a flared base to prevent lodging within the rectum.  They are often used with condoms for hygiene and ease of cleaning. 
• Ejaculating BP:  These BPs are very much like the regular BP however they also “ejaculate” or squirt liquids such as water or other various fluids into the rectum to simulate penile ejaculation.
• Vibrating BP:  The vibrating BPs are just like a standard BP with the exception of added vibration for stimulation.
• Expanding BP:  Most often these BPs are inflatable which allow for stretching and expanding.
• Textured BP:  Textured BPs are often ribbed to simulate the feeling of a penis being thrust in and out.
• Locking BP:  Locking BPs are often used for continuous wearing for anal training and alternative practices of bondage and torture.
• Other:  There are other BPs that simulate thrusting and other forms of stimulation with the use of beads, etc.
•  Anal Beads:  Anal beads are made up of a series of bump or balls along a semi-rigid wand.  These are used by inserting the beads into the rectum and pulling them back out as varying speeds.  They most often are stringed with varying sizes and can have as many as eight (8) beads on one wand.

Other:

• Ben Wa Balls:  Ben Wa Balls are hollow metal balls inserted into the  vagina and worn for extended periods of time. The internal rolling is claimed to enhance orgasms and stimulate the internal organs of the female body.
• Kegal Exerciser:  The Kegal Exerciser is also known as barbells and jugglers are designed for insertion to strengthen and improve the muscle tone of the pelvic floor as well as enhance vaginal response.
• Nipple Clamps:  Nipple Clamps are clamps that are put on the nipple that apply varying degrees of pressure for stimulation.  There are varying degrees of sizes, styles and clamps.  Some clamps feature jewels, gems and other added accessories.
• Nipple Suction:  Nipple Suction devices are devices used to simulate sucking on the nipple to make it become engorged and more sensitive to stimulation as well as ease of application of clamps.

Now that you know what the different types of female toys are you should be more at ease with experimenting.  I would caution you to remember to clean your toys throughly between uses with a recommended toy cleaner or a mild detergent such as Ivory between uses.  Also please remember to never share your toys (unless glass) to help prevent the spread of bacteria and STDs.
